This is probably the best fandom-inspired jewelry I've ever made! Doctor Who fans will instantly recognize all of the symbolism behind this piece, from the TARDIS blue elements and the two hearts, to the centerpiece pendant with the circular Gallifreyan writings. Honestly, this whole thing just started on a whim while I was playing with some leftover clay. I pulled out the silver and gold and thought 'Hmmm...I wonder if I could make a madallion-thingy with this.' Next thing I knew, I was etching in Gallifreyan. After baking with some other charms, this piece actually just laid around on my desk for over a week before I came up with what to do with it. First, I had the idea for the tarnishing, which I did with mixed gold and green crafting paints, a paintbrush, and a tissue for wiping of the excess paint, leaving most of it in the engravings to highlight them. I then brushed on a little extra green in places to make it look a bit older. After that, everything just fell into place. I found a broken ball-chain necklace and repaired it, then added false tarnishing to it as well. Then I gathered up some old odds and ends, and ended up with this! Funny how the unplanned stuff sometimes ends up being the best art! Anways, please comment and tell me what you think! Also, if you have questions, feel free to ask!
Oooooooh pretty! It's a Doctor Who necklace, and yet most people would see it and not realize that it's a Doctor Who necklace. That's what's so cool about it. And those shiny blue hearts are cool.
I like making 'secretly' fandom-related stuff.
